Apps for policies, coverage and claims: what each one does

PolicyWallet editorial teamUpdated: 21 October 20266 min read

Document organisation, cover explanations and claim tracking are different functions. Check what each app offers. PolicyWallet organises and explains your documents. For claim progress, contact your insurer or adviser.

“All in one place”: three different jobs

Before choosing an app, identify what you need. A general description such as “everything in one place” does not tell you whether it supports the following features.

  • Organising documents: finding the right PDF without digging through email and photos. Any file storage solves this.
  • Understanding cover: knowing what is included, what is excluded and up to what limits. That needs the content read and analysed, not stored.
  • Claim updates: what stage the claim file has reached. That requires access to the insurer's own systems.

Who actually gives you claim updates?

Official updates come from the insurer. You may see them in its app or through an authorised partner. PolicyWallet does not connect to those systems.

In practice that means your insurer's app or portal stays the reference point for how a claim is progressing, and your agent is the fastest route when something stalls. If a third-party app promises “claim updates”, it is worth checking whether it means real file status or simply reminders and guidance.

What does a policy wallet give you when a loss happens?

Not file status, but something that in practice goes missing far more often: your own data, at the moment you need it. In the first hours after an incident the question is not how the claim is progressing — it is what you must do right now so you do not forfeit your right to be paid.

In PolicyWallet that appears as branch-specific guidance tied to your own policy: the notification deadline and reporting obligations exactly as your document states them, your policy number, and the right claims line — the accident-declaration line for motor, technical assistance for home, the coordination centre for health. Where the number is not in the document, it says so plainly rather than inventing one. That is the difference between a personal risk intelligence platform and a plain document store: it does not just hand you the file — it hands you what the file means.

Check notification duties and inform the insurer promptly. The consequences of delay depend on the law, terms and circumstances; it does not automatically remove every right to compensation.

How do you organize cover and documents in one place?

You upload the PDF or a photo of each policy, from any insurer, and the AI reads it. Instead of one more file in a folder, you get plain-language answers on what is covered, what is excluded, what the limits and deductibles are, and which dates matter.

With Family, you can review findings, ask questions about documents and share information with an adviser. Renewal reminders are available from Plus. See each plan's exact features on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

What are popular apps for organizing policies, claim updates, and coverage information in one place?

Insurers' own apps cover all three, but only for their own policies. Policy wallets cover documents and coverage across every insurer, with guidance rather than claim status. Agency apps sit in between.

Is there an app that shows my claim status across every insurer?

It depends on each application's integrations and partnerships. PolicyWallet does not offer this feature. Ask your insurer or adviser for an official update on your case.

Can I file a claim from inside a policy wallet?

PolicyWallet does not submit claims to insurers. Use the method your insurer specifies. In the application, you can find details from the policy you uploaded.

How do I find the claim notification deadline in my policy?

In the general or special terms, under the policyholder's obligations after a loss. If the policy has already been analysed, it appears alongside its other details without you searching the terms.

Do I need a separate app for each insurer?

It depends on your insurers' and adviser's services. In PolicyWallet you can organise documents from different insurers, without premium payments or claim tracking.
