Protection Score
A 0–100 rating that promises to show how complete your insurance picture is. PolicyWallet no longer calculates one — it states the specific findings instead, and what has not been checked yet.
Also known as: Coverage score
PolicyWallet no longer calculates a protection score. We removed it in August 2026, and the reason is worth stating: a 0–100 number could not distinguish "we found no problem" from "we could not look". A portfolio that had never been analysed scored the same as one that had been checked and was fine.
In its place the app states the facts themselves: how many policies you hold, how many are expiring, how many have not been analysed yet, and which specific gaps were found — each pointing back to your own document. None of those can be wrong in the way a score could be.
The term stays here because you will meet it elsewhere. If you see a protection score in another service, it is worth asking what it measures: the breadth of the cover you hold, or whether that cover is enough for your needs. Those are not the same thing, and only the first can be computed from documents.
In PolicyWallet the Protection Score appears on your home screen together with the per-category breakdown and its methodology. It is an informational indicator based on the documents you upload — not personalised insurance advice. For a recommendation tailored to your needs, speak to a licensed insurance intermediary.

How is the Protection Score calculated?
It compares the branches expected for your profile against the ones you hold, weighted: Health 25, Life and income 25, Property and motor 20, Income protection 15, Liability 10, other 5. Points are then deducted for gaps found inside your own policies.
Does a high score mean I am adequately insured?
No. The score shows how complete your coverage picture is, not whether the sums and limits are enough for your situation. Two people with the same score can have very different real protection.
Is the Protection Score insurance advice?
No. It is an informational indicator derived from the documents you upload. PolicyWallet sells no insurance and takes no commission. For a personalised recommendation, speak to a licensed insurance intermediary.
